1. Prioritize “Performance Needs”

Start by defining what your tube needs to do.

1. For conductivity or thermal transfer: Pure copper (T2, TP2) is unbeatable. It’s the top choice for motor windings, air conditioner evaporators, or any part where heat or electricity needs to flow efficiently.
2. For easy processing and low cost: Brass (H62, H65) is your go-to. It’s perfect for plumbing pipes, decorative items, or parts that need bending or shaping without breaking the bank.
3. For corrosion resistance (seawater, chemicals): Skip ordinary brass. Opt for aluminum bronze or tin bronze—they stand up to harsh environments where other materials would corrode quickly.
4. For welding and sealing (e.g., refrigeration lines): TP2 (phosphorus-deoxidized copper) outperforms regular pure copper. Its low oxygen content prevents porous welds, ensuring tight, reliable seals.

2. Low-copper brass labeled as high-grade: H59 (with 5% less copper than H62) is often passed off as H62 to cut costs. Insist on a spectral analysis report to verify copper and zinc levels.
3. Toxic brass in sensitive areas: Never use lead brass (HPb59-1) for drinking water fittings. Check the material report for lead content—safe options for water must have ≤0.01% lead to meet hygiene standards (GB/T 17219).
